The Door

Mission Statement:

To love, encourage, and equip young people through God's Word and Holy Spirit so they may know God through a personal relationship and grow in Him to be the men and women God has called them to be and impact their world for Christ.

At New Community Church, we value young people and know that they are the future of the Church. The majority of Christians today came to know Christ before they were 18 years of age and we realize the importance of reaching this generation while they are young.
“ Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.” Ecclesiastes 12:1

The Door is an exciting and fun environment for students to come and grow in “owning their own faith” through group and personal bible study and adult support and encouragement. The Door provides Christian activities and events to allow our students to experience God through different venues such as Christian concerts, rallies, conferences, camps and mission trips. The Door is also raising leaders among the youth, including Jr. High and Sr. High. We are blessed to have one of our Sr. high girls leading an all girls life group. The Door aims to direct these “arrows” in the right direction to accomplish God’s will for their lives. As scripture says,

“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth.” Psalms 127:4

The Youth Pastor is James Roots (who is also the Worship Pastor) and he has worked with young people for 13 years. James came to know Christ when he was 20 years old. A year later, he began getting involved in his church’s praise and worship band and as a youth leader. He has been involved directly and indirectly with youth ever since. He has a heart to encourage and build up teens and pre-teens in their relationship with Christ. He seeks to show them by example that living for Christ is the greatest adventure they can experience “I love young people and want them to know that loving and serving God is the best decision they can ever make and that Jesus is here not only for them, but for their friends, too and that God changed my life and can change theirs.”  James has been married to his wife Rochelle for 10 years and they have two boys, Jalen and Uriah. If you would like to contact James, please e-mail him at james@james-roots.com.
